In 1978, when I hosted 10PM-2AM on a no-format, #QuadFM station in tinytown #NC, I'd put this track on—12 minutes—and "step out back for a smoke." My show's sole sponsor was #JOB Rolling Papers.
That's how it was in my #70s-stoner South.

93 followers · 429 posts · Server techhub.social🎧 Forty-five years ago this morning at 12:44, Tuesday, February 21, 1978, I was on the air (DJ) at #WRQR, the #QuadFM "play what-you-want" rock station in Farmville, NC. A sophomore at #EastCarolina, less and less interested in a degree and fascinated by the creative opportunities I had and imagined possible (they were). No rules, no scripts. My single sponsor was #JOB #rollingpapers. The studio was the living room of old house in the the country, dark except for a fabric-covered lamp on top of the control board. I spun #Hypnotized to open every night.
