Got to play some #Quake3Arena over #DreamcastLive last night with some of the fine folks over at the Dreamcast-Talk forums. Quake 3 Arena!! Its amazing how well it holds up!

#introduction time: I moved my account, so let's talk about another of my hobbies: #leveldesign for #Quake. I made a lot of levels when the games themselves were released, although no public map release for #Doom or #Quake1.

I released a few single-player levels for #Quake2, and also a few #deathmatch levels.

My best known map though is Overkill, for #Quake3Arena. It's also featured on #QuakeLive. You can see a screenshot of it in my profile and on this post.

Right now I am designing a single-player level for Quake 1. It's fun, and #Trenchbroom (see the other screenshot) , the next generation editor is a dream to work with, together with the tremendous textures by @makkon

I will post here when there is progress on the level. But I map when I feel like it so don't expect a hot development track :)

Nunca lo mencioné (y tampoco es que a nadie le importe) pero el "OA" de mi handle es por #OpenArena, un #ArenaFPS #ArcadeFPS clon directo de #QuakeIIIArena #Quake3Arena al cual contribuí con mapas primero y con código después. Aunque muchos lo encuentren como un AFPS más del montón (siendo clon de Q3 y parte de un género "muerto" como los AFPS no se puede esperar mucho), para mi tiene un lugar especial en mi historial personal. Ese fue el juego que hizo que mi obsesión (?) con el desarrollo de videojuegos aflore.

El "OA" de mi nick es por #OpenArena, un #FPS clon #FOSS #OpenSource #GPL #FreeOpenSourceSoftware de #QuakeIIIArena #Quake3Arena que se creó apenas fue liberado el código fuente en 2005. Recién conocí ese juego en 2007, y al año siguiente me integré a la comunidad. Al mes aprendí a manejar el editor de niveles. Cuatro años más tarde, 10 niveles oficiales de ese juego (todos ellos empiezan con am_) tienen mi firma, y también puse mi "sello" en otros mapas. Y hay muchos otros mapas que no llegaron a aparecer. Y muy recientemente también me animé a hacer contribuciones de código, todavía no hice modos de juego nuevos (tampoco es que los necesite, OA ya viene con 12 de ellos y uno de ellos va a venir en el futuro #OA3), pero si soy responsable de varios arreglos de bugs y opciones de juego nuevas.
