I had a talk with a #Quaker today. She acknowledged that even as same sex marriage was mostly recognised by the #Quakers in Ireland it would be the specific Monthly Meeting who would've the final decision and also acknowledged that not all Monthly Meetings are open to it but the couple could still seek a wedding in a different Monthly Meeting.

I'm "only" an antendee of my meeting but stuff like that is holding me up to apply for official membership.

I'm not Christian, but I have been attending a #Quaker (Society of Friends) meeting for the past year, and have found them very open and welcoming to marginalized folks like myself.

A #poem on #kindness. After seeing some much needed online. It's funny how often people talk about how often a situation needed kindness, but I think it's almost the opposite.
To me, kindness is the thing that happens when someone steps outside of the rules and procedures. Or maybe not, who knows?

@quakers EN: Today the book "#Quaker - Faith and Practice" arrived at my. In the photo you can see my old edition from 2002 on the left and the new one from 2016 on the right. Only a glossary has been added to the content. The biggest difference is the material quality! And the difference in quality is huge. The new edition is neatly bound, has an excellent typeface, has a ribbon bookmark and is hardcover. Wow! 1/2

@martin This reminds me of the year #BaltimoreYearlyMeeting staff actually had a lengthy discussion about whether they should call an individual's parole officer for coming to Annual Session. Said individual was a convicted pedophile and there were Friends who believed he had a right to be there without question or oversight, despite it being a parole violation or the fact it put 50+ kids at risk. #Quaker naivete about "bad faith actors" never ceases to astound me.
