#CMSPaper 1225: This paper uses over 4 billion LHC lead-lead collisions to study the shape of the quark-gluon plasma using quantum-correlations, called Bose-Einstein correlations, between two particles in the collision. The conclusion: the shape of the #quarkgluonplasma is not as simple as we figured. Lévy functions describe the data (yay!), and we measure those accurately so these can be used to model/predict other collisions in the future!

#CMSPaper 1198: D mesons are two-quark particles that contain one charm quark. In this paper, the behavior of D mesons produced directly in a lead-lead collision is compared to D mesons from b quark decays, both when traversing the #quarkgluonplasma. I'm Maximilian Attems and working on my 2nd #MSCA postdoc at the heavy-ion group at #CERN TH.
Lately I have been calculating the medium modification of the collinear gluon splitting to charm and anti-charm inside of jets from heavy-ion collisions versus proton-proton collisions as new observable for the upcoming high-luminosity runs of the Large Hadron Collider.
