This is the third in a thread of vintage posters for Montreal's tourism industry.
In my memory, a shift in advertising took place after Expo 67 with more emphasis on Montreal's cosmopolitan modernity, and with Quebec City being regarded as more historic or "quaint".

[2/5] Father Time's wings (in former post) and timepiece date back most recently to Renaissance artists and then still further back to the Greek god Chronos. Chronos sometimes had wings and he eventually became the God of Time. Chronos was originally a god of agriculture, hence the scythe šŸ˜€
This Father Time dates back to 1875/76 and is by the artist Massicotte.

[1/5] Growing up in Quebec in the ā€˜50s it was still common to see images of Father Time at New Year's. Out of curiosity, I looked him up and Iā€™d like to share these historic images which are all drawn from Quebec periodicals.
This first is a winged Father Time from 1901 holding an hourglass, by the well-known Quebec artist Edmond-Joseph Massicotte. Source: BANQ
