9. På Nobelstiftelsen promotade MPEG4-standardlösningar som förvisso inte var helt öppna, men var standardiserade. Nu var #Apple och #Quicktime de enda som stödde det grundläggande mainstream, men menade på att ALLA kommer stödja det med tid. De var på tills Microsoft kom in och erbjöd sig sköta allt med deras icke-standarder. Det blev dock en parantes, då det jag föreslog blev defacto standard (utöver ISO-standard).

Tråd. Lite nördsnack. #Quicktime som de flesta inte förstod hur avancerat det var. Många tänkte att det handlade om ett sätt att spela upp video. Speciellt de som hade det på Windows (där Quicktime var en dålig port).

I själva verket var Quicktime ett mediaramverk. Utöver lägga till olika codecs för video och audio, så kunde du skapa "wired movies" som kunde kommunicera med varandra, programmeras, använda sprites, flash och mer.

My partner found a Billy Joel CD ("Piano Man") in an abandoned shopping cart outside a local farmer's market. I went to rip the tracks off of it, and it turns out that it's got software on it.

Unfortunately, I did not succeed in installing #Apple #Computer #QuickTime for #Windows 2.1.2 using #Wine. 😆

I also noticed a Windows 3.1 installer for the software.

Hopefully this is before #Sony Music got into the #Spyware business.

@dmnelson thanks, yeah I fell in a rabbit hole trying to get BlackHole audio driver to work and discovered my Homebrew was messed up and ended up wiping it and reinstalling in the new path. Still couldn’t get BlackHole to work with Quicktime due to audio echo, but I found a workaround. Ugh. At least I cleaned up my machine a bit. What a circus though.

NeXT provided valuable technology to Apple, and more importantly focused management. But in terms of code NeXT was not the largest progenitor of #MacOSX, at least if we discount code NeXT acquired from other sources and Apple subsequently replaced with newer upstream ports prior to shipping Mac OS X.

I enjoyed the TV Show #Manhattan. I am probably going to enjoy this. Might even be able to understand a #ChristopherNolan movie for a change. Looking forward to it. And #CillianMurphy looks great!

Also, movie studios should dump #YouTube for their trailers. Terrible quality. Even #Apple site had better quality trailers in 2000-01 era which they used to showcase their #Quicktime player.

I’m following accounts with similar interests listed in their bios. So fill that shit out! I myself am an avid #ClanLord player. You can compose #music & play it through general #MIDI (#quicktime) for players nearby you. This is the only Online RPG that I know of that can do it. The sad part is the best client for composing music only runs on 32-bit macOS. There’s a java tool, but it is not as full featured.
