The thing with babies quilts is that they often end up pink or blue or very pale colours. With this one I wanted to try something different. It’s been maturing in the top of the cupboard for a couple of years so I think it might be time to finally finish it.! Just a 6” border with more appliqué stars and spots to go. Inspired by @graay , I'll be starting on a big rainbow stripe quilt in the new year (woo!) so I thought I'd warm up with a cushion cover/wall hanging kit I've had in my drawer for years...

Turns out the kit is much harder than the quilt should be - little thin strips with no room for error (and boy, do I need that!) Plus striped/geometric fabrics which highlight the wonkiness 🤣

Lovely Japanese indigo-dyed cottons though.

Do not use stretchy minky on the back of a quilt, it will stretch when you quilt. Worse, do not put even stretchier minky on the back of the next quilt. Guess what it will do? I must be a very slow learner, been quilting for 20 years, but first time with this junk. #quilting #quiltingmistakes 😩
