Birthplace of John Adams Jr, 2nd #president of the USA
This house was built ca. 1720, when John Adams Sr bought the land. John Adams Jr was born here in 1735, & his son John Quincy Adams (6th president) was born in a similar house next door in 1767 (that house is also preserved). They later moved to Peacefield, which is much grander.
#Quincy #Massachusetts calls itself “”The City of Presidents”.

A small #outcrop of the #Squantum Member of the #Roxbury #Conglomerate
These #rocks are in the #BostonBay Group, which is currently dated to #Neoproterozoic. The Squantum Member was interpreted as a #tillite, possibly associated with the #Gaskiers #glaciation, although there a scant signs like scratched pebbles or faceted cobbles. It is currently commonly interpreted as a #debrite (debris flow). Details in captions.

Granite Railroad
Arguably the oldest railroad in the USA, built in 1826 to move #Quincy #granite to shipping in the #Neponset River. Along with many prominent customs and other buildings, this stone was quarried for the Bunker Hill Monument in #Charlestown north of #Boston #Massachusetts. This is near the terminus of the railroad at the quarry. My #photo

I haven't met Mayor Koch yet (not for lack of trying), but Anne went along with us during our Thanksgiving charity ride last year, and she's always been nice when I've emailed with her. I'll have to study her record on the city council of course, but it's nice to have an actual race going on for mayor now.

Apparently it's a national chain and the only other Boston-area location is in Cambridge. I don't know how they'll hire people though when Tous Les Jours has failed to open for months now.
