Ich hab ganz vergessen, hier auch noch aufzulösen.

Die alten Ägypter schrieben ihre Texte vornehmlich in schwarzer Tinte. Für spezielle Wörter oder Passagen wurde jedoch auch Rot verwendet - solche Stellen nennen wir dann "Rubren". Es gibt auch einige wenige Dokumente mit weißer Tinte. Von einer speziellen grünen Tinte wüsste ich allerdings nichts.

I totally forgot to solve this riddle!

The ancient Egyptians mainly used black ink to write their texts. Red, however, was additionally used to specifically mark certain words or passages in texts with so called "rubra". There are also very few exhibits where white ink was used. I am not aware of any specifically used green ink, however. ->

Let us leave the courtroom for a moment and change topics. I am pretty sure you are aware that the ancient Egyptians used papyrus sheets as one material to write their texts on - basically paper, but made from fibres from the papyrus plant growing along the Nile.

Though all participants were right anyway. So what happened? Seth joined a party at the palace and at some point offered a coffin. Whoever might fit best into that coffin would get it - for free! But when Osiris tried his chances, Seth's companions came by, nailed the coffin shut and threw it into the Nile. Problem solved!

Thus, my friends, be careful whenever someone tries to offer you a coffin at a party!

Richtig war die Antwort 3 - Seth zog während der Feierlichkeiten einen Sarg hervor mitsamt Partyspiel: Wer am besten in den Sarg passte, würde ihn geschenkt erhalten. Kaum lag Osiris im Sarg sprangen die Schergen des Seth herbei, nagelten den Sarg zu und warfen ihn in den Nil.

Alles fing damit an, dass Seth den Thron Ägyptens von seinem Bruder Osiris stehlen wollte. Unter anderem bediente er sich dazu auch einer List, einem kleinen Partygag. Bevor wir uns damit befassen, warum sie richterliche Anweisung nötig hatten, wollen wir uns zunächst den Hochrichter selbst anschauen: den Sonnengott Ra. Der hatte mitten in der Verhandlung einen Tobsuchtsanfall und ließ sich nur noch durch eine Sache besänftigen. Aber wie?

The falcon headed god Horus and his uncle, Seth, apparently ended up in court during their immortal lives.

Before we look more closely at why the two deities needed judicial instruction, we first look at the high judge himself: Ra, the sun god. This powerful god had a fit of rage in the middle of a trial and could only be calmed down by one thing. But how?

A couple years ago I have started something on Twitter, making use of the - back then totally new - polling instrument: a #QuizOfThoth.

A new platform means new people, and as I am very focused on #machinelearning and #softwaredevelopment these days, I think it's a nice distraction to have some little details on this mysterious ancient culture from time to time.
