A WWII era #quonset hut in #anchorage #alaska. Surplus huts were erected by the hundreds beginning in 1947 when Anchorage was experiencing a housing shortage. A few of them are still inhabited. There was a backlash and even today it is the only specific building type banned in all zoning districts. An ingenious, elegant design. I was a volunteer on a book about Quonsets published in the late '90s [spent hours cleaning up 1940s magazine ads in Photoshop].
