Is there a good fediverse server that has implemented quote boosts/quote posts in a sensible manner? A fork of mastodon would be ideal as it will be easier to migrate to it, but I'm okay with trying something else.

I'm getting tired of waiting for #mastodon to add this feature, so will migrate to something that already has it.

@Teri_Kanefield @SueShannon FWIW, some of the third-party apps now support something *like* quote boosts. I specifically use Ice Cubes (unfortunately iOS only), which enables it.

If I make a post with a link to another Mastodon post in it, Ice Cubes will display that post as a quote (instead of a useless link). I’ll post a screenshot:

I've reached a point of "Mastodoning" where I see the Lack of QT is now being manipulated (maybe massaged is a better word?) in the ways we thought QTs would.

Pay close attention and you will see certain people go unchallenged. You see their attitude shine. You will see their followers increasing their signal and responses remained biased.

They will drop "truth nuggets" (you know what I'm talking about lol)

If you reply, these people don't reply.

As a former Anti-QT, I swore we wanted replies to matter - but the threading in default Web UI and default Mobile apps doesn't foster replies - so they get ignored... Shouldn't threading surface replies that get boosted/favorited? (Reduce need for QT, boost return signal from posts)

I call this, the "Inverse QT"...

The lack of features is being used for advantage and we're too busy discussing the feature rather than improving/resolving the informational/structure problems...

Kinda like politics eh ;)

Following up on this earlier toot of mine, I guess the functional difference between real supported #QuoteToot / #QuoteBoost / #QuoteTweet feature in #Mastodon and just including a link is that people are for most practical purposes getting boosted, but they don’t see that they are, and other people don’t see it either.

And I guess if you’re being critical of the toot you’re quoting then it’s not really a “boost” in the English meaning of the term.

Just to note #Misskey and #Friendica both have the #quoteboost share option. Subway tooter is an app that allows you to do this.

For moots who want an easier way to “#QuoteBoost” on #mastodon, the iOS app, IceCubes does it.. see link ⤵️. It is still kinda like copying the link of a post then mentioning the user but the app does it intuitively..

This is a example of when being able to #QuoteBoost would be helpful. You would have been able to boost the post with your own note explaining your reason for boosting. Without being able to annotate your boost people are drawing their own conclusions. Personally I would use the experience to encourage discussion of #QuoteBoosting and #Defederating
