#Qwitter makes you cast your thoughts in stone. Every criticism must be defeated, or else the entire thought must be publicly thrown away with the error.

It hadn't occurred to me that there was any other way to react to someone telling me I was wrong but to be offended. Then I remembered I could just edit the post; problem solved! My ego's intact, and my wrongness on the Internet has been corrected so some reply-guy can go to bed now.

Twitter was ALWAYS a shitstain nothingburger to me. I subtracted 75% credibility if I saw "news" there. Now I subtract 100%.

If it's a Tweet, it's a lie. Unless otherwise substantiated by a genuinely reliable source, it's a lie. Even if I normally trust you, I don't trust you on Twitter or Facebook.

It's the people. Just that.

I say this as someone with a patchy social media history... Meaning I hate that shit unless it's FOSS. All in on #diaspora back in the day, but #NeverTwitter, never a #Qwitter ... That shit was noise and embedded links on real news sites for me. Usually ignored, because it's Twitter, and that devalues the opinion and makes me question whether it's really "news".

I don't trust corporate social media. Period.

Damn, been away from Mastodon for a week and I come back to see it getting really awesome.

When I open #Qwitter I tense up, and prepare myself for how bad the world is and ready to fight some terrible people.

When I open Mastodon I have no idea what to expect because it allows for people to be surprising. To be reasonable. To say “Oh yeah, I hadn’t thought of that, I guess you’re right. Thanks!”
