But, if you use, say, #STOMP, then you can allow administrators to swap out the component for something more suited to their scale, or that they are more comfortable administrating, or you can have a trivially simple STOMP broker for test and turn around and plug into #RabbitMQ or #ActiveMQ in prod.

You can plug in websockets support trivially, or write a plugin for serving your API.

This doesn't feel overly heavyweight to me, especially since it lets you scale as you develop.

In defense of #golang error handling.

Once at my first job #RabbitMQ didn't work and I looked into the logs. There was an #erlang traceback. It had something about lines in the code and processes. It might've been useful for a RabbitMQ maintainer but not for me. As someone who never worked with Erlang or looked into RabbitMQ source code, I didn't understand a thing.

When Go program fails, I get a clear hand-crafted error. It might be tedious to write but it gives the best user experience.

I'm not 100% convinced yet, but love the pragmatic solution focus:

»We recently ripped out #RabbitMQ from our system and replaced it with a queue built on top of our #Postgres db and written in #SQL. The change took half a day to implement + test, and had a net delta of -580 LOC. Much more importantly, it drastically improved the reliability and resiliency of our system.«

Projeto q trabalho Ansible Platform/Pulp a fila de mensagens é PostgreSQL e funciona bem, ainda temos alguns problemas na camada de workers (em Python) mas a gestão da fila no PG é sucesso!

PG é DB, Search Engine, MessageQ e se ele tivesse um KV rápido substituiria o Redis tbm
