Much sadness at the death yesterday of talented Scottish musician, songwriter and performer, Rab Noakes. Earlier this year I did a blog series about some of my favourite songs and Rab's 'Gently Does It' was one of those songs. You can read an interview with Rab about the song in the post below - very moving it is too. What a star he was.

It was a pleasure to talk to Rab Noakes about his friendship with Gerry Rafferty and how they made sweet music together in the early 1970s and stayed friends until Gerry's death in 2011. Rab told me: "I love to sing, especially with other people and it wouldn’t be a lie to admit my best companion in that was Gerry. We engaged in a dressing-room rendition of The Beatles ‘In My Life’ and a lifetime friendship was born." #GerryRafferty #StealersWheel #TheBeatles #RabNoakes
