Byfield, 55, is the owner of #NyaraiCellars, a virtual wine label. The company does not have a building or vineyard of its own, but contracts grapes from growers in the Niagara region. The wine is made at a winery in Hamilton — West Avenue Cider House — where Nyarai Cellars has its own barrels and tanks.)

I am white. I tell folks that I am anti-whiteness. This excerpt helps illustrate both what I mean by "whiteness" and why one might be against it.
I am "white," not literally--literally I'm beige with pink spots--but socially, politically, historically. White culture is a sort of anti-culture. It's the art of the art heist. Its only true innovations consist of horrific new ways to steal others' creativity & indulge in sadism. It is defined in opposition to Blackness. But where Black people have rejected the emptiness demanded by white supremacy, creating culture even when white supremacy banned their languages & faiths, white people still sacrifice their kids and themselves for white supremacy.

For decades, Detroit has been #America's underdog. The #city has scrapped and fought its way through #racialized #urbanPlanning and white flight, #deindustrialization, and a massive #recession. Through all of this, at times, Detroit has been down – but never out.

FWIW, I use #CWs to actually pull attention (like a headline) & simultaneously give people a choice not to engage if they don't have the #spoons for me right this two seconds. (I put CWs on my #disability and #feminist stuff.) I realize that while I'm somewhat #marginalized x2 I still have #WhitePrivilege and can't speak to #racialized people's experience.
