A nice, new out by Jörg Lippold & colleagues on differences in co-occurring planktic . They document how subsurface-dwellers like G. truncatulinoides have ages offset, on average, by ~300 14-C yrs compared to surface-ocean species (like G. ruber & T. sacculifer).

Scientists Resurrect Animal Frozen for 46,000yr in
The microscopic were successfully woken from a state of suspended animation after researchers found them in the permafrost, or frozen soil. analysis revealed that they hail from a era when and dire wolves still roamed the world, and that they belong to a functionally extinct species called Panagrolaimus kolymaensis that was previously unknown to science

How it started and how it's going, Latvian in Lelindricas edition. The sequence of uncovering wooden constructions of a rampart in our test pit (1 × 3 m).
At first we thought it was just a burnt tree trunk. Then it became clear we were dealing with woden construction. Now we hope for at least dates if not some .

Dating sediment cores in the Arctic is very challenging. This report by Wollenburg et al about the common presence of secondary calcite growth on foraminifera shells does not help things. The secondary calcite growth distorts the radiocarbon derived age of the foraminifera, and may have created large biases (>10,000 years) on the infered chronology of many cores. They suggest only shells that do not have calcite growth can provide reliable ages. nature.com/articles/s43247-023

Radiocarbon dating, a widely used method to determine the age of organic materials, may not be as reliable as previously thought. A new study found that fish bones from the same archaeological site gave different dates depending on the species. This could affect the accuracy of dating ancient human remains and artefacts.

How many undergraduates can you fit in a radiocarbon dating laboratory?

About 60 Earth and Environmental Science students it seems.

And a fish-eye lens helps

As I spend my afternoon entering dates into a spreadsheet, I ponder about how each date costs several hundred dollars. My spreadsheet with 40 dates entered would cost upwards of $10,000 USD, or maybe even more! I should make a script for my sea level database to calculate the approximate cost of dating everything in modern values.

If only I'd known this sooner. Never handle date calculations on your own again.
