It's Wednesday, so time for the Radiolingo podcast again. This week - how language enforces gender bias. Again, terrific show - always something super interesting.

This weeks gem: in the 19th century the singular "they" was the preferred form of default pronoun - English and American linguists codified "he" as a preference, as "men were more noble". Language is continually changing.

#radioLingo is fast becoming my favourite #podcast - this week's episode was about the challenge of localising film and TV shows. This new episode of #Radiolingo about #translation & #localization of TV and movies is really, really good. It clarified a few things for me re: why the original audio, the dubbing, and the translated subtitles can be so vastly different.

I do localization for gaming/mobile apps (#Mandarin to #English), and this ep made me thankful to work directly with the creators of the content, and not for an agency that has little to no access to the original writers!
