A website that has French street name signs that refer to stations or trains.
Lovely site, especially with it's 1998-era look and feel and very wonky navigation.
@smveerman: new hobby?

Interesting way of propelling your train: with a giant corkscrew! This was the Never-stop Railway, which never stopped, only came to a slowdown near stations.
Demonstrated in the 1907 London Exposition but never built afterwards.
#railhistory #TDFF2023 #rail #history #tourdefrance Last day of the Tour. A local loop around Pau, which had a 3 line horse tramway from 1894, converted to electric in 1898-1900 and retired in 1927-1931.
A suburban steam tram network, Chemin de fer de Pau-Oloron-Mauléon, with 5 lines, served the "Paulois" between 1902 and 1930.
Since 1908 (except 1970-1970) the Pau Furnicular connecs the low-lying station with centreville — as did both tram systems.

The peloton has turned back to Lannemezan and is now on their way to Arreau.
They follow the mostly still in place, but abandoned since 1995, line https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_de_Lannemezan_%C3%A0_Arreau_-_Cad%C3%A9ac
In Arreau, the riders will turn right to the Col d'Aspin. The "Compagnie des chemins de fer du Midi et du Canal latéral à la Garonne" was granted the right to build an extension to Saint-Lary-Soulan in 1908, but this was never built and formally abandoned in 1941.

In a few minutes, the pack starts in Lannemezan and heads north to Galan, before heading back south.
What also went north from Lannemezan to Galan, was the planned rail line to Auch, with construction started in 1920. However, the endeavour went "south" and the line was never finished.
There is not a lot of info on the line, but
http://lieux.loucrup65.fr/voie%20ferree%20lannemezan-auch.htm has a trajectory map and some photos, see the top 3 tunnels from https://www.tunnels-ferroviaires.org/index.php?page=Inventaire&type=Departement&dpt=65 #tourdefrance

Today, the finish is in Blagnac, suburb of Toulouse.
Blagnac never had a "big" railway, but it was connected via
- the metre gauge Toulouse à Cadours and Lévignac secondary lines (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_de_Toulouse_%C3%A0_Cadours),
- the "Pons" network of local and interlocal trams (probably normal gauge, https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramway_de_Toulouse),
- and the current T1 tramway (normal gauge, https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligne_T1_du_tramway_de_Toulouse)

Albi was the hub of the Northern network of the Chemin de Fer départementaux du Tarn, later the Voies ferrées départementales du Midi.
From Albi two lines radiated to Alban and Valence -dd'Albigeois, both having important stations at the "Place du Manêge" the current Place du Vigan, which is the finish line today.

This story hits so many of my interests - #Botany, #YorkUK, even #RailHistory - a rare plant, York groundsel (Senecio eboracensis), has been brought back from extinction, and it was rare in the first place because it hybridized in industrial land around the York railway station (first identified in the car park in 1979!).

#TodayInOaklandHistory April 28, 1958, the last Key System train ran, ending the streetcar era in the East Bay.
From 1938-39 until the end, the trains ran on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge to SF. Before that, Key System ferries took passengers across the Bay.
The "now" picture is at the @westernrailwaymuseum near Suisun City, which has old trains from the Key System, the Sacramento Northern, Southern Pacific interurbans, and more -- some of which still run for excursions.
