Are you telling me #Philadelphia has a #crossrail tunnel for it's regional/commuter rail services, and uses it to have the trains just go to the "other" terminal before ending, and doesn't actually do through-running suburb-to-suburb lines?

The train would seem to go by faster between Montreal and Bromont due to mostly flat land, but as soon as you go beyond that, it’s mountainous terrain, so the train has to go pretty slow until you reach Sherbrooke. If the Mount-Orford Express used to do it, a regular passenger train can too. #travel #rail #publictransit #railtransit

Apparently Legault is embracing the idea of a Montreal-Bromont-Sherbrooke train that he was said to be eager to know where the feasibility studies are at. The rails are a federal jurisdiction, thus the region would need to persuade the Canadian Transport Minister to consider it. Article is French only, but give so hope.

I got into an argument with my parents where I agreed with the idea that #electriccars are bad and still fundamentally wasteful. I suggested that the answer is the proven technology of #bustransit & #railtransit... which somehow devolved into a political topic.

A developer proposes a "lifestyle hotel" next to the Honolulu Rail Transit Project's Chinatown Transit Station. The proposed 15-story, 240-room hotel will be located on a parcel currently used as a parking lot and includes a historic building. The public may comment on the Draft environmental assessment and anticipated finding of no significant impact at https://files.hawaii.gov/dbedt/erp/Doc_Library/2022-11-08-OA-DEA-Chinatown-Hotel-Development.pdf. #TOD #RailTransit #Honolulu
