@lunalein @bookstodon Gotta recommend the series. The Raksura themselves are cool enough but the world building is even better. They live in "The Three Worlds," so called because there are thousands of sentient species, many humanoid and many not, living either in the sea, on the ground, or in the air. All three realms are strewn with ancient ruins, and some of them don't have ancient terrors to go along with them! There are boiling seas, floating islands, a city built on the back of a leviathan, and our heroes end up in their natural habitat: the hollow spaces inside a tree so enormous that it has entire forest and grassland habitats at various levels of its branches as well as sheltering the villages and towns of yet another sentient species under its giant roots. And there are so many different types of airships!

Note: technically this is fantasy since it has magic elements in it, but they're so naturalistic.

@queerscifi I guess it was about two years ago, when I chanced upon "Stories of the ", a collection of short stories by @marthawells. I was so intrigued I had to go find the novel series the stories referred to. I still haven't come across any other fantasy settings that captured my imagination so much. I still periodically just post "RAKSURA" because I'm obsessed with the shape-shifting dragon people of the Three Worlds.

I then went on to read the entire series. There are still a few books I haven't yet read. But I'm working on it!

Lately I’ve been binging Martha Wells (Murderbot author) series following the Raksura. It’s pure entertainment with adventure, horror, royal drama (aka ant colony), and weird alien ecosystems.
