The term #Ohlone resulted in 1853 from a misspelling of Oljon, a tribe within #RamaytushLand along the Pacific. In 1769, more than 2,000 Ohlone lived on the Peninsula in what is today’s #SanMateoCounty. They hunted, fished, tended the land and developed complex trade and cultural relationships, according to the county’s website.
