The best part of my job in the #SpecialCollections is the rabbit holes I fall into. While looking through our #RareBook collection, I found a #Book on #Texas #WildFlowers by Ellen D. Schultz who was the director of the #WitteMuseum in #SanAntonio. And despite all if her accomplishments her publishers, the Laidlaw Brothers of #Chicago, only watered Ellen down to just her husband's wife.

This is one of my old snapshots from The Watchers, which is about the Andreasson Affair, one of the most detailed and prolonged experiences of alien abduction. I believe this is actually Betty’s drawing (the main abductee) but don’t quote me on that.

So, at the #RareBook Fair in #Boston today, I spotted something that can help us through the decline in other investments. Maybe a side hustle.

The crude but hilarious and charming woodcuts in this spelling book are by English artist Joseph Crawhall II.

This little gem from 1884 (first edition) is a great example of the chap book revival led by Crawhall and The Leadenhall Press.

I love the silliness and artistic freedom of this.

I am currently a DAM #Librarian for a large corporate entity, but my past LIS lives have included #rarebook cataloguing, #bookselling, physical archival processing for small historical orgs, and social media for #archives.

Other than that, I like to make mini #zines, construct weird felt #embroidery #crafts, and write pithy reviews for the dozens and dozens of #kdramas I watch.

Also, by way of introduction, I am director of California Rare Book School (#calrbs), a continuing education program for #librarians, #rarebook enthusiasts, and people interested in #museums that is operated out of #ucla Department of #InformationStudies.
