After days of cringeworthy, inappropriate PR, they fixed their biggest mistake without acknowledging it.

We know the #RaspberryPi foundation is blocking people thanks to a few eagle eyed friends. I believe I've been blocked too.

The PR is so terrible. They aren't pushing back against harassment, they're pushing back against criticism of their own bad PR and questionable decision.

I'm going to be honest, I found the people losing their shit over the raspberry pi hiring a former surveillance specialist to advise them on miniaturisation highly amusing. #raspberryspy

Here's my hot take on the #raspberrypi situation:

Be mad at institutions, not individuals.

The issue isn't a #police officer being hired.

The issue is the #RaspberryPiFoundation was giddy to announce the officer officer used their products to create #surveillance tech, including stuff put out in the public.

The offending institution in this case is the Raspberry Pi Foundation themselves.

@jonoabroad you are getting pretty abstract in this reply, I’m struggling to understand who “folks” are and what “perspective” they hold.

I’m gonna take a guess that this thought process was kicked off by the #RaspberrySpy discussion, and in this concrete instance I’ll note that the new employer and employee boasted of his previous experience as a surveillance tech. People who are sorry or ashamed of what they’ve done don’t boast, right?
