When someone assaults other people whose choice of self-definition displeases them, this has nothing to do with "equality." This isn't self-defense, but an entirely imaginary "right" to attack whatever chosen group they deem deserving of violence.
It's got zip to do with "equality." That's simply a rhetorical distraction and muddying the real issue.
This is true regardless of divides like left, right, etc. Murder is murder, assault is assault.
