Gonna try not to cry during this caregiving work session given the crushing weight of eldercare (as we prepare to transition my dad from assisted living to long term care this weekend). Thanks @sarahbc 💚#RBMS23

I'm attending a lot of the management sessions at #RBMS23 specifically to incorporate those discussions into the Workplace Changes & Advocacy discussion group I am facilitating tomorrow. Let's conspire on some action items in the Georgian Room at 4pm tomorrow.

1. We need best practices from under-resourced, under-staffed institutions

2. Librarianship is toxic to people of color, in a nefarious way because it’s not necessarily out in the open

3. Check on your mid-career professionals. We’re struggling.

4. Managers take on the persona of the institution. They don’t care if you leave.

Kellee Warren shares counter-storytelling as a device for shifting, focusing on the needs of people & realistic developments. Document these stories to add to thr larger narratives. #RBMS23

At #RBMS23, Kellee Warren’s concept of the new professional is “the new storyteller,” one who tells the truth & sots in the discomfort/the cognitive dissonance of the moment. I love this & also find many are punished for doing so in work environments.

I also fully acknowledge this is my issue to work out as a rules-bound person, and that limited resources negatively impact the potential for reciprocity more than anything else. #RBMS23
