A #ULA #AtlasV 4-meter fairing, hand-painted with the #NASA logo, the #RBSP program logo, the #UnitedStatesFlag, and the #AtlasProgram #logo. The 4-meter fairing provides less volume for payloads than the 5 meter version, but weighs less.
After launch, the Radiation Belt Storm Probes were renamed the Van Allen Probes once in orbit, and continue to study the Van Allen Belts and Earth’s magnetosphere.

The modern #AtlasV #rocket, designed by #LockheedMarting and operated by the United Launch Alliance or #ULA, has been called the #DialARocket for its ability to add capacity by adding solid rocket boosters like increasing steps on a #dial.
Unfortunately, Fox (the #photographer) hasn’t covered any #launches of the #Atlas V 411 variant with only 1 #SRB.

This is the Atlas that launched #NASA’s Radiation Belt Storm Probes #RBSP, renamed to the #VanAllen Probes once in orbit, they study the Earth’s #magnetosphere.
