Did you check your mail today?
I'm sure you didn't because there haven't been many calls coming in on BC-BOX BBS #RC2014BBS (the world's first and - currently - only bulletin board system #BBS running on a #RC2014 )
Better fire up your #Telnet terminal client (#Syncterm, #Qodem or even #Qterm if you are using CP/M #CPM) and connect to:
rc2014.ddns.net on TCP port: 2014
so you won't be missing any news!

It is my pleasure to announce to you that RC-BOX BBS, the world's first and (currently) only #rc2014 based bulletin board system is now even better!
Thanks to the help and support from @f4grx, I have been able to mitigate the "lost characters" issue which occurred to some users when entering message text.
If you want to try it for yourself,#telnet connect to:

@dbb
That does look really cute. Sadly my one doesn't have all the blinky lights, but with the right firmware it does the same job. https://z80kits.com/shop/esp8266-wifi-module/
Certainly worth checking out #rc2014bbs too!
@rasterweb
@threedaymonk @rc2014 That's a very nice and powerful setup. I use the Backplane Pro and ~22 different modules, mostly 3rd party PCBs from tindie, on my workstation. Some of these mdules are duplicates, as I need them for running my #rc2014bbs on a second machine.
Season's Greetings from #RCBOX #rc2014bbs - the world's first and (currently) only #rc2014 based #BulletinBoardSystem on the network.
The #BBS software is a customized version of the original #RBBS 4.1 #BDSC code for #CPM which I extended to feature: a simple SysOp <-> User chat, support for Mr. Gelee's 4x 7-segemnt LED module for RC2014 (to display the active user number and activity locally), a Testfiles section and several bugfixes.
You can #Telnet to it on:
rc2014 (dot) ddns (dot) net : 2014
Please keep in mind that this is a single-user system, so if you get a *BUSY* message, try again later as someone else is already logged in.

Those of you who know (and care) about it: I've done some minor changes to the #rc2014bbs RBSS4.1 codebase I am maintaining and which are now live on "RC-BOX" #BBS (see my profile on information how to connect)
I've re-mapped some of the keys, wrote a new bulletin file (after more than a year, heh) but the hottest change is that I've sort of pimped the message select prompt. I think it now better explains how to use it and you can now see the total number of messages in the current board as well as opt out by pressing 'q' to quit.

@quazarsamcoupe Sounds very similar to my pesonal experience. I learneed 8085 arund the same time but never had any use for this precious knowledge as I ventured down the Linux and C coding route.
But when once I built my first #rc2014 in 2020, I started tinkering and it all came back very quick.
"cpm-lock" is the result of these efforts, although I did gain a lot of knowledge and did several changes to its original codebae when adapting BYE.COM for use with my #rc2014bbs
Eventually found some time during lunch break to add some changes to my modified RBBS4.1 BDS-C source code for #CPM build. I've moved the ouput of the "BULLETINS.CCC" file beyond the login, so that you will now have to log in in order to get the bulletin shown (first thing shown after successful login). Before, the bulletins file was shown immediately after the logon banner and before the login prompt.
With the recent changes, the banner isn't "lost" due to it being scrolled upwards by the bulletin file.
Also introduced a new getpaue() function which shows a simple "[Press a key to continue!]" prompt.
Don't hurry, though - I'll probably roll out these changes to "RC-BOX" #BBS by tomorrow noon (CET).
Heck, coding on a CP/M machine (especially one built by one's own hands) is so much fun, really!

OMG!! 800 #Fedizens following me now ... 😮
Thank you all for following me here in the #Fediverse, you're just too kind!! 💙
And things get even better, as I noticed today that there are now 101 messages in the "General" message base of the "RC-BOX" #BBS #rc2014bbs (see my profile on info how to connect) - thank you all for that as well! 💻
So here's a little video showing off the current message list of "RC-BOX" BBS, while I was logged in a few minutes ago using my #Modular64 #Commodore64 and a #SwiftLink #WifiModem and the #StrikeTerm terminal software.

@IPXFong check out #rc2014bbs once you are ready to connect, looking forward to see you there!
@Stege I know that pain! 😅
If the #rc2014bbs should be stuck or unreachable, let me know. One of the annnoyances of being connected to #wifi is that the #bbs sometimes looses connection (I'll never buy TPLink again!)
This is a little reminder that out there in the wild storms of the internets hides a tiny, little #z80 based #bbs, operated by an enthusiastic nostalgic (me) waiting for other #retrocomputing fans to share, laugh and enjoy a little bit of those good old days, when the emphasis was on "social", not "media" and 1.44 MB were considered a *very large* transfer volume.
So feel free to visit "RC-BOX", the world's first and (currently only) #rc2014 based bulletin board system !!

Most of you may know me for the #rc2014bbs "RC-BOX BBS" which I have been promoting throughout the fediverse recently.
However, my nickname originates from my other, older BBS, the "Wintermute BBS" which I started back in 2009 and which is still up and running.
It's a #linux based #bulletinboard #bbs running the #mbsebbs software.
It's a bi-lingual system, supported languages are english and german (system messages and menus are available in either language).
It's currently connected to good old FIDOnet and BBSnet (further networks are being prepared, e.g. amiganet).
The filebase features some #commodore stuff and file-echos are also being prepared right now.
There are some more commodities: I've got a selection of old DOS doorgames and some Infocom games to play for you.
To keep you informed about the latest news, there's the "Newsroom" with a selection of german and english RSS feeds to read.
Maybe you want to drop by sometime?!
