RDAP is going to do 2024 virtual. I appreciate all the thoughtfulness that has gone into that decision and the planning that goes along. And also I miss hugging some of my Data Friends. #RDAP23
#DataCitation skills are still low! Only 25 of 100 examined #economic papers cited the data used properly as just presented by Maggie Marchant at #RDAP23.
But it's so easy, guys! ➡️ https://datacite.org/cite-your-data.html

Wondering about how badly libraries have damaged their own data services by shoving it primarily into science jobs. -- Hilary Bussell talking about how qual researchers think data services isn't for them -- and yeah, that's because the people that were hired were told to only focus on NSF and quant and Science.
in the Qual data support session and there's the challenge that our qual researchers aren't bringing in the big grants and need more support but it can be hard to justify because they aren't bringing in the big grants -- can't buy out my time, for ex.
#RDAP23 It's nice to be among my people -- even from afar. We're all FLINGING resources at each other in the chat.
Listening to Kate Barron and Kevin Read talk about Data use Agreements and.... I'm very curious. We have lawyers in the office of research that handle DUAs. it's NOT the library. #RDAP23
Good morning #RDAP23 -- I'm in my session 3B for my morning lightning talk on Intellectual Property Questions and the NIH DMSP.
Just in time form #RDAP23, the Data Curation Network has released a primer for accessible (in the sense of: accessible to all, including disabled, users) research data by Emily Oxford and Rachel Woodbrook (UMich). https://github.com/DataCurationNetwork/data-primers/blob/master/Accessibility%20Data%20Curation%20Primer/accessibility-data-curation-primer.md
Lots of helpful stuff in there. #Accessibility should, oc (and I believe the primer authors agree) not be relegated to a separate doc but be part of all curation activity, but I hope having a central reference doc will be helpful for that purpose

Functional #DataCuration teams at #ICPSR (instead of study/topic specific curation) lead to more standardization and higher efficiency.

Very interested to hear this lightning talk about AI and library values from the Dean of Montana State #RDAP23
Wendy points out the issue of considering a DOI as the source of identifier truth. But is it?
DOIs weren't an ISO standard til 2010.
#RDAP23 A finding of data in 176 different publishers for a collaboration of Cornell/Mich/VaTech.... tracking down our datasets is going to be such an adventure.
If you want to think about FAIR data during your CoreTrustSeal process, the FAIRsFAIR project produced this model https://www.fairsfair.eu/coretrustseal-fairenabling-capability-maturity-model #RDAP23
#RDAP23 Widge likes conference days. I'm not actively running meetings so I get to be more available for cat holding.
