Moving from openmediavault () to plain with file sharing and a simple backup cron job on my underpowered has dramatically reduced power consumption and overall stability. Highly recommended!

Because I don't want to regularly have to do digital pest control but also can't force people to actually learn tech and not be morons expecting me to fix their fuckups for free, I forcibly migrated everyone I care for to and @nextcloud for all their needs.

Backups are super-easy [regardless if , / -ackup / , or whatever and upgrades are literally done by transplanting drives...

It's really annoying when an update to some software in the middle of an OS's supported lifetime breaks compatibility with the previous version of said software.

In this case, rdiff-backup updating to version 2.2 on Fedora and RHEL/Rocky/Alma breaking backwards compatibility. Since I can't upgrade everything to version 2.2, I have to make sure I exclude ridff-backup from my updates or the systems don't get backed up anymore.
