"Space for Readability: Effects on Reading Speed from Individuated Character and Word Spacing," studies the influence of character and word spacing on adult reading performance. The work extends prior research that demonstrated individual typeface selection per reader could significantly increase reading speed while maintaining comprehension.

A passiveAggressive abuse is the #opacityZero that js-requiring sites feature. There might be a way to detect such (when a browser has #javascript disabled) and ask to remove the CSS?
We've also boosted often since January the growing danger around #lazyLoading images.
Though not using JS, it can argueably be used to fingerprint visitors, infer their #readingSpeed and as such #targetUsers with *bespoke* lazy-loaded images like #advertisments at the end of an articles, etc.
