In high school I read: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It was the inspiration for the movie Blade Runner, but the book is so much more dense. Deckard’s search for the androids is a minor side story to the overarching theme of empathy. It has an interesting religious element called Mercerism, and their public empathy boxes which are interconnected to a virtual reality of collective suffering. Who knew? Philip K.
