#BookWorms - I'm in need of a good horror novel to read! Who's got a suggestion? #HorrorNovels #ReadingGoals #ScaryStories

I finished the first chapter of 《請把門鎖好》by Ji Qing (既晴), and it feels like a huge accomplishment!
Dialogues are easy to read, but there are descriptive passages that I have to skip more or less (I get the general idea of what is described, but the unknown vocabulary is overwhelming, so I prefer to skip difficult passages rather than to lose motivation for the whole book).
My goal is to finish this book this year, and I’m a bit behind schedule, but it’s okay!
I haven’t done much reading last week due to lack of time, so here are my reading goals for this week:
- I want to finish 背いて故郷 by Tatsuo Shimizu that I am currently reading on Booklive.
- I also want to read half of 시체를 보는 사나이 1-2 by GonghanK. I’m very late with this book, but I really want to finish it this month.
- The other Japanese book I’m reading is a collection of short stories, so it’s fine if I only read one from time to time.
It’s February, meaning it’s time for me to start the second book of the Slough House series by Mick Herron.
My reading plan for February is to read:
- Dead Lions (Slow House 2)
- the second part of the first volume of the Korean series 시체를 보는 사나이 (the man who sees dead bodies) by Gonghan K.
- at least two winners of the Mystery Writers of Japan Award.
@kwish I have read Of Human Bondage but I have yet to read Moon and Sixpence. Maybe I need to make one of my 2023 #ReadingGoals to read all of Maugham.
What are your #ReadingGoals for 2023? Here are mine.

These are all the books I acquired in 2022 (since august, mind you), I decided it might be a good idea to use all the new books as my reading goal for 2023! But then I went to gather The Books. 18 books I gathered this year (granted many are very quick reads, but still), I had no idea. They just accumulated. 8 are from used book stores, 6 were gifts. 18 books for 2023. #reading #2023readingchallenge #2023readinglist #readinggoals #books #usedbooks

Shooting for a reading goal of 36 books for the year on topics like marketing, healthcare, decision-making, business, technology, and whatever else seems intriguing.
I'll be sharing the stuff that stands out the most and would love to hear what's really inspiring you in your reading time!
Here's to a great year of learning.

#readinggoals 2023
1. Reading each of the upcoming releases of The Complete John Owen 40 Volume set—6 to 7 volumes due every year
2. Calvin’s Institutes - I have read 10x Systematics and yet, never read Calvin’s. It’s time to right that wrong.
#ReadingGoals for 2023 📚.
Japanese: My main goal is to read 20 winners of the Mystery Writers of Japan Award (I read 18 in 2022, so it should be possible).
Chinese: I want to finish at least one book in Chinese. This would be a huge achievement.
Finally, the Slough House series is going to keep me company during 2023. Let’s see if I can read one book a month to catch up with the series (I’ve only just started).

Setting some #ReadingGoals this year.
After some thought I have set myself a reading goal of 40 books this year. Last year was a tough year (burn out, career change, other mental health stuff). I managed 23 but was hard to get there.
Also
- first job to finish the books on my 'currently reading' list
- read more from my TBR pile
- use the library more (or seek copies through people I know)
- review books on my shelves and really evaluate if I am going to read the books I gave, gift or donate what I am not going to get to
