I should have just stuck with trying to work through my already long reading list...

The pile of shame. It’s like this every year I go to a big event like Thought Bubble or LICAF. I think I’ll tackle the floppies first and maybe make it look a bit tidier. #comics #comicbooks #graphicnovel #reading #readingpile #shelfie

I would love to see your reading pile – however big, small, tidy or chaotic. Tell me about it; what should be added to my own mountain?
Here's mine. Lagging a bit with a few books because I have too many on the go at once, but I'll finish Melissa Febos's amazing essays on writing today. Christmas will see me through Jamie, James and Hughes. I really need to open Deakin again.

A few weeks ago, I visited family in England and returned with #newbooks. I got to rehome my late aunt’s copy of Hugo Cabaret ♥️ and my cousin kindly gifted me a copy of The Beekeeper’s Apprentice.
I also returned with a list of #books that I ordered as soon as I got home 🤣 I’ve been trying to diversify my reading, and I can’t believe that it’s taken me this long to realise that I was missing authors from my own heritage!

05.00. A short spell shivering outside under an immense starry sky, watching the Leonids – just three meteors scything through the dark – then inside to warmth and books and coffee. And all is well.
Deep time outside and in today, and Laurie Lee’s early poetry to get me ready for writing about my own past. #leonids #books #reading #ReadingPile

I have glasses and can read again! Off to read all the books in my to be read pile. Right after a quick reread of the Lord of the Rings as an appetiser. #ReadingPile
I started reading #TheWordForWorldIsForest by Ursula K Le Guin last night, written during the Vietnam war. The basic idea that war changes even the victims, sometimes for the worse, is interesting. I don't think #Ukraine will ever be the same after this conflict. Even defending yourself, changes you

My day usually starts at 5.00am – I appreciate the silence before the world wakes, a good time for reading (and an excuse to squeeze extra cups of black coffee into the morning ☕️).
Two books this morning: returning to Slad with Laurie Lee, and to vanished wildwoods with Oliver Rackham. Lee, I love – a local hero, whose writing is as fresh as ever. #ReadingPile #books #reading
Next up on my #readingpile is "Hybrids" by Whitley Strieber, so far it has some promise but we'll see how I feel in the end.
Read "Fairy Tale" by Stephen King.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
It was a fun read, a reminder that King can write things other than horror, but at the same time it just felt like something was missing the whole time.I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars for this one, but I figured it was enjoyable enough that I finished the second half in a single sitting. That usually deserves a four from me. Not a "must-read" by King, but a fun one all the same.
I’m still introducing myself, so let’s talk BOOKS. I’m studying for an MA in nature & travel writing, and contributing reviews to The Great Outdoors magazine. Both have lent focus to my usually haphazard reading choices. Currently I’m reading a lot about geology and trees, for my own book project, and making time to enjoy a little Murakami.
On the rug: previous book on rocks, next book on trees. On my bedside table: other lovely things. #books #ReadingPile #reading #naturewriting #introductions

Last month I made a "reading pile" - a goal of my unread books (there are so so many) and it was fun and actually helped me get through quite a few I've been wanting to read forever. So, here's November's pile! A mix of books new and old. This month, I went heavy on comics/art books as I'm in full-force writing mode on a new book. So I tend to have less reading time. #readingpile #books #comicbooks #graphicnovels #artbooks

Into town this morning to pick up Devi Sridhar's #Preventable from the independent book shop. Now added to the #ReadingPile.
I'm currently reading two of these and another on my #Kindle; that's not wrong, is it?
