I’ve been very sleepy all day long, so I haven’t had the courage to continue the Korean short story today 💤.
I only read my current Japanese novel: 針の誘い by Takao Tsuchiya. It’s such a page-turner, exactly what I needed today. I just reached 75%, so I think I’ll finished it this week :)
I finished chapter 2 of 伝説なき地 by Yoichi Funado. The first two chapters were full of suspense! I didn’t expect to love this book so much, but I must admit that it is hard to put down.
I’m also 40% into 請把門鎖好 by Ji Qing. My goal is to finish this book this year, so ideally I should reach 50% at the end of this month! That means a lot of Chinese reading for the next weeks :)

I’m reading “You Will Find Your People” by Lane Moore. Her first book, “How to Be Alone”, was excellent, and I’m enjoying this one too. If you have trouble making friends as an adult (like I do) and want to laugh a little, I recommend this book I’m reading.

I'm already on book 4 for the week. It's got dragons and swords and all that good stuff. #bookstodon @bookstodon #amreading #bookish

I’m a little more than halfway through 『支倉事件』by Saburō Kōga. It is inspired by a real case of theft, arson and murder that took place in 1917: the Shimakura case (島倉事件). There’s a Wikipedia page about it, but I’ll wait until I finish the book to read it.
I like how the author sometimes addresses the reader directly (読者諸君). It reminds me of when I was reading the Kogoro Akechi series, because it was the first time I saw this literary device in Japanese.
I’ve read the first 4 chapters of 背いて故郷 by Tatsuo Shimizu (志水辰夫), and I love this novel!!
There was an interesting chapter about the relation between Japanese fishing boats and the Soviet Union (in the 1980s) which allowed me to learn some new words along the way.
I also started yesterday the second book of the Akira Hamura series by Nanami Wakatake (若竹七海). The first short story was nice, hope I’ll have time to read the second one today :)
Excited to start book number 4 of 2023. 'The Anglo-Saxons: A History of the Beginnings of England'
The Anglo-Saxon period, Danelaw and so on, is arguably the most fascinating and exciting period in this islands history.
P.s ignore the scratches on the table. I have a thing for badly kept tables 🤣

I'm almost done with the book プラナリア but I'm not liking the last short story so I hope I can finish it this weekend.
I also started reading my first Korean book and, although it is not a novel or short stories like I prefer, it's good practice for my level and has interesting points about Korean etiquette and society. The book is called 생활 속 한국문화 77!

- I started chapter 4 of 시체를 보는 사나이 by 공한K. I love this book so much: engrossing and super easy to read.
- Today, I mainly read 白い衝動 by Katsuhiro Go (呉勝浩). This novel really has interesting topics, so I’m taking a lot of notes while reading. Less than 100 pages to go, maybe I can finish it this week?
- アリスの国の殺人 by Masaki Tsuji (辻真先) is the most difficult novel I’m reading at the moment. I am reading it slowly, and I am happy to be at page 110.
