When the moon slips into waning, the weather always shifts. We're three days into non-stop rain and the mud is starting to get deep.

The photo - taken from the safe vantage of a foot bridge - is of the only road leading into our village, which the river had made temporarily inaccesible unless you come in by foot.

It's all part of the charm of living here, I suppose.

#Teachers have been on strike here in #Venezuela as well. Today, I'm headed down to a meeting at the village school house to talk about what's going to happen for our kids.

Teachers make about $7 a month in this country, where the basic costs of living have been calculated at around $400 a month for a family of 5.
