As we're tearing down the deck, I'm reusing the wood and adding some pallets to build my new raised beds. Need to add some chicken wire before the soil goes in to guard against moles, voles, and rabbits.
The tall sides will hold strawberries after adding the garden fabric separators, not sure what I'll plant inside yet...

Last major session was a success regardless of an exhausted Brandy!
Junior Gardeners planted potatoes in the bottom of pots, sprinkled lettuce & carrots at the top, and added "birthday candles" of onions for the finishing touch.
Pots are #reclaimed from floral industry waste. What once held cut bulb flowers now holds soil and #food seeds!
Students also spread milkweed, Joe Pye weed, coneflower, and verbena seeds in their #pollinator spaces.

A century and a half ago, Corcoran would have been at the bottom of Tulare Lake. A series of #levees today prevents water from returning. Today #OnTheBench I finished tapering the legs for a small three-legged stool. The legs are made from sections of invasive-to-this-area Buckthorn, and the seat is made of #reclaimed construction 2x4 from a car garage demolition.

I’ve made 15 small, thin paintings on pieces of “unusable” offcuts from a woodworker. Rescued from an inevitable fire. Oddly shaped, unsanded, with simple designs. I do “pay what you can afford” sales in my FB group because I make SO MUCH STUFF and some of it I can let go for small prices. And I really love how these turned out. 💚
