Louis Fontaine: Ritmi Moderni
Like the soundtrack to a long lost 70's spy film you wish you could watch, this one is cinematic and groovy as all heck. The Italian musician brings an addictive timelessness to his latest, a masterclass in cool aesthetic. I do think you'll dig it. Enjoy!

Danny Paul Grody: Arc of Day
Usually-solo guitarist mixes it up with some collaborators, most noticeably some lovely clarinet in places. This is crisp and Iush and a must-listen for the guitar enthusiasts out there. I.e. if you dig William Tyler, you'll probably dig this. Out on Three Lobed. Beautiful stuff. Enjoy!

Phi-Psonics: Octava
This one is as effervescent, bubbly, and refreshing as a cold can of Sprite. Groovy, inspired, beautiful spiritual jazz out of LA. With just the right amount of flute.. For deep listening. So very very good. Enjoy!

Caitlin Canty: Quiet Flame
One of my favorite songwriters of the past decade, Canty shines once again. The songs and her voice stand on their own, but this one has some extra juice with production by Chris Eldridge and appearances by Critter, Noam Pikelny, Sarah Jarosz and more. Another delicious serving of lovely Americana. Enjoy!

Koffie: kokon
I can't say for sure, but I'm pretty confident that what your Friday needs is this lil EP that could. This Amsterdam band has got 6 quick-hit tracks of burning afroboogie. Over before you know it and will have you looking to hit that repeat button for another dose of the goods. Trust me. Enjoy!

Cinder Well: Cadence
Sparse. Haunting. Lovely. Heck, throw in alllll the adjectives for Amelia Baker's latest. This is stark, cold-winter, introspective folk at its finest. From Ireland via California, and sounding every bit like it. Enjoy!

Mute Duo: Migrant Flocks
Is there somewhere that people are talking about this masterpiece that I'm not aware of? Haven't heard a peep about it and it's a, uh, masterpiece. If your favorite band played an ambient jam like the instrumental pieces on here, you'd be best-shit-ever'ing that shit. Pedal steel love. Highest recommendation. Enjoy!

Sunbörn: s/t
Fridays are great for Eurojams, no? This Denmark band is a little, uh, sunnier than your typical Denmark jammer, but their jazz-inflected instrumental psychedelia is super engaging and goes deep when it has to. I do believe this is the good stuff, pösitive vibes ftw. Please dig in. Enjoy!

Freaksville National Orchestra: s/t
Sometimes we just need our rock and roll to be fun, am I right? There's nothing not fun about this Liverpool ensemble. How could it with a name like that? Fiery guitars, bombastic rhythms, catchy hooks, some garage energy and plenty of instrumental boogie. Betcha ya dig. Enjoy!

Sissoko/Segal/Parisien/Peirani: Les Egares
Here's something that's probably not in your normal listening palette. Four masters of their instruments combine as a quartet creating a quite-wonderful, very unique sonic texture. Kora, cello, accordion, and saxophone just work together on this one. Lovely and engaging, try it! Enjoy!

Many morals here. Take a chance, you never know. But maybe more so, find those voices you trust and put your faith in them. I was basically putting my faith in the dude who booked the Bowery Ballroom at the time, someone I now know and would still trust with any rec 20 years later. There are lots of folk like that out there. Get you one or two. That kind of faith has almost always worked out for me... 3/3
Appreciate any and all feedback on the #recommNeds. Stuff you dig, stuff you think I should check out, if you think I should post more/less of em, etc. Just trying to discover as much great new music as possible and help you do the same!

Bart: Some Kind of Way
A Canadian band called Bart, how could you not at least give em a try? This is one of those albums where it's hard to believe it's the same band, they genre-hop and shape-shift from track to track, permutations of sounds you already love. But whatever they're playing at the moment, it's freakin great, so it works. Enjoy!

Patient, brooding, totally freakin awesome psychjazz from England by way of the Netherlands (natch). This is the work of Oli Heffeman who plays almost all the music on here, and dang, ain't it something else. This one will draw you in and hold you there for a good while. I do think you'll dig. @Neddyo The Bad Plus is the most life changing music I found via #recommNeds. I've seen all 3 lineups countless times in many different states. The first time I saw tBP was as moving as the first time I saw Jerry (in a slightly different way).
I found Bill, Jullian and Mary on my own but watching Neddyo report on them is always pure joy. Thank you.
