I just finished TELL ME I'M WORTHLESS by Alison Rumfitt (2021, Nightfire Books) and it is a wonderful and brutal read. I did not realize that political horror could be done so well.

Finished Cixin Liu's "The Three Body Problem" and I admit it was not what I expected.

Many trilogies offer their best in the first book and the author tries to expand the work on sequels, sometimes this works others it doesn't.

Here the scope is large from the beginning and the first book sets the scene in a way that allows the reader to slowly absorb the narrative and build anticipation that can only be satisfied by reading the next book
