So I'm mentally spending my tax return, and I'm looking to get a new system with a primary focus on photo and video editing.

I'm looking at monitors that would play well with a Mac Mini/Studio. I'd like to go at least 27", minimum 3840x2160 res, with good(tm) color reproduction. The Apple Studio Monitor is top of the list, but it's also $$$$ and has a fancy speaker setup and webcam that I don't need.

Any recommendations?

Looking for an external HD to dump photos off my iPad. I have the camera adapter, so something that can talk regular USB would be my preference, though if it does Lightning natively I'm not going to complain. I think I'd prefer platter drive to SSD, cheap and long-term reliability is more important to me than speed.

(I'd love to upgrade to an iPad Pro, but that's quite a bit more $$$ than I'd like to spend right now.)

I realized that while I've read one collection of #solarpunk and have one yet to read, I haven't actually read any books that would qualify as #hopepunk, so that's my goal over the next couple of weeks.

I need that. Everyone needs more hope.
