Have you read any books by R. Ira Eisenstein? Along with R. #MordecaiKaplan, he helped create the original form of #ReconstructionistJudaism (which in many ways is different from the movement that we know today.) What do you think of Eisenstein's ideas? What books of his do you recommend?

Have you read “Judaism As a Civilization” by Mordecai M. Kaplan, Jewish Publications Society? What do you think of his ideas today? Which of these ideas still exist in the Reconstructionist movement? In this book from 1934 Kaplan first describes his concept of Judaism as an evolving religious civilization, the foundation of what became #ReconstructionistJudaism

2. I'm #queer, #trans, and politically somewhere around #autonomist (the Sensible Centrist™ position on the anarchist—Marxist spectrum). As far as I can see, there's only a small slice of #Judaism where I would comfortably fit (left edge of #ReformJudaism, basically; I want to say #ReconstructionistJudaism maybe but I don't understand it well enough to make that call).
