I'm beginning to suspect that handheld field recorders might just fundamentally be a bad idea.

They're meant to be really convenient, like you can just whip it out of the case and point it at a sound. But it seems like every use case is either better served with separate recorder and microphones or *at least* requires heavy investment in bulky accessories like special shock mounts and windscreens.

I recently got a new handheld field recorder. It showed up and I went, "Wait. It doesn't come with *any kind* of a case? And it's terribly sensitive to both wind and handling noise, too..."

So I've got a really cool new tool that I can't take anywhere or record with until the accessories show up. >:[

This is the most "first world problem" I've had in months, I'm sure.
