I visited Black Hole Marsh, #Seaton early this morning to check out the first breeding #Devon #Avocet. It was peaceful and quiet and the Avocet were all present and correct - two adult, three young. Lovely to see this elegant wader. And they also lived up to their feisty reputation as parents - seeing off any birds that came too close

The first days of the week I spent in Friesland, the most northern Province of the Netherlands. There I visited a farmer that started a new farming initiative. "Bird-inclusive farming" Gives birds the time and space to mate, have youngsters and raise them into young adults before anything is done to the land. Instead, he rents out 4 large cabins for educational or photographic purposes. #LoveIt

An 'interesting' day. Helped someone who had driven along the wrong carriageway on the A38 (a dual carriageway main road linking Exeter and Plymouth), made sure she was safe until the Police arrived (then had to give a statement).

Then it was very windy on the Exe estuary so ended my birding early and came home for a cup of tea in the warm.

Avocet on the Exe. Beautiful, elegant, graceful birds.
