First painting of 2023 finished!

A red apple watercolour painting.

In 1453, when Constantinople fell, the invading Turks referred to Constantinople as The Red Apple.

In a couple of months, I will be publishing The Casa Martyrs. Although the book is set in the present day, one of the characters in the book died at the fall of Constantinople. In a chapter called "The Fall of Constantinople" the main character takes a bite from a red apple before things start to fall apart for the character who died at Constantinople.

Whilst designing the front cover, I decided I wanted a vibrant red apple to feature, so here it is! And it's also why the table slopes away to the left - it's falling.

But basically, it's a watercolour painting of a red Royal Gala apple.
