#Reddark still reports 2108/8829 registered subreddits being dark (private/restricted/oliver/archived)
A quarter of the sites registered on https://reddark.untone.uk/ are still private or restricted.
I love all the malicious compliance in subreddit reopening. /r/WellThatSucks is now about vacuums.
Now that Reddit is useless, I've created a #BelieveInFilm magazine over on Kbin.

Have a look!

Apparently r/interestingasfuck just became a porn subreddit, and has managed to get boobs to the top of r/all. Over half of the posts I found on the front page of r/interestingasfuck is now porn. It's becoming r/interestingassfuck instead.
If enough subreddits do this, Apple will eventually see no other outcome than removing it from the App Store due to their policy.
This is hillarious.

I have an anonymous account to lurk into the right wing bubble, to understand how they work, think and what they believe.
Where is the bubble, that teaches me/us how someone get to a situation where he looks at Twitter and thinks „that’s what we should do“
#Reddit CEO praises #ElonMusk’s cost-cutting as protests rock platform
Steve #Huffman said in an interview that Elon Musk's cost-cutting at #Twitter was inspiring and that the two have chatted "a handful of times."
"Huffman said he saw Musk’s handling of Twitter, which he purchased last year, as an example for Reddit to follow."

Reddit Says It Won't Force #Subreddits Back Open but the #ModCodeofConduct account has informed moderators that it will replace inactive moderators with active ones, who could open the subreddits back up.
So, what #RedDark #Reddit mods needs to do is open their subreddits for a little while, 12 or so hours each week, let the community bash reddit, moderate it, and then go dark again.
Rinse and Repeat. #RedditBlackout

#reddit feels stale and I'm loving it! To be honest, as an experienced and wise monkee, I didn't expect much from the #redditblackout. Bunch off people wander off, but everything else stays the same. But behold, r/all is consists now of boring garbage, and the CEO feels clearly threatened! Well done, reddit! #rexxit #reddark #redditmigration

On the 5th day of the #reddark protest, most subreddits are still private or restricted. Almost 5000/8820 subs are closed.
On the 30+ million followers subs, 6/7 are closed since r/gaming joined the move. According to #Reddit itself, 80% of the top 5000 subs are down.
#Reddit CEO has decided to just wait for the end of the protest and wants to allow users to vote moderator out. For him, users don't support the protest anymore.

Welp, with #reddit falling apart, i figure i might just post some of my greatest hits on here. These are images collected from Google Maps about 8-9 years ago of Mecca, in the area directly west of the Masjid al-Haram. An absolutely enormous swath of the historic city was absolutely destroyed to make way for new development. Some of the buildings were over 1,000 years old and some even had historical relevance to the prophet himself. But, for the Saudis (those in charge, at least), historical significance means absolutely nothing - if anything they might just see the destruction of precious history as a good thing. A pretty remarkable collection of images, I'd say.

I just checked the #reddark status.
It looks like most of the subreddits have decided to continue the #reddit blackout after the 2 initial days.
Roughly 6650/8820 subs are still private or restricted.
Among the 30+ million followers, 5 are private or restricted among the 7. r/todayilearned and r/gaming are the one online.
As a user, you can't help by not scrolling to avoid giving them as revenues.

As it moves to shut down third-party apps, the site’s heavy reliance on unpaid labor comes back to haunt it

"In this edition of Net API Notes, I recap the source of initial Reddit API consternation, apply recent lessons we've had on platforms and developer ecosystem destruction, and end with what happens next. Are you currently attempting to scale a developer ecosystem, internally or externally? You will want to treat this as a case study of what can go wrong when shifting strategic priorities meets poor developer communication."

Welp, I'm a little late to the party, but today I shuttered the subreddit I moderate, about 60k users. Hoping that folks hold out for longer rather than coming back after just a couple days. Interested to see what's ahead. #reddit #redditblackout #reddark

In Reddit protest news, so many subreddits went private that it somehow crashed the site 😆
