This is a Fire Weather Red Flag Warning update message for Thursday, August 31st at 12 noon.
The National Weather Service Red Flag Warning remains in effect thru today for leeward areas of Hawaii Island.
Northeast winds of 15 to 30 MPH with gusts of up to 50 MPH and dryer conditions are occurring on Hawaii Island.

Data is only approximate location. Some heat detections might just be smoke with embers but not (at least yet) fire on the ground.

The Bolt Creek fire came along and they barely escaped with their lives. I like to (optimistically) think that most back country travelers in this area took that lesson to heart and will stay out of #RedFlagWarning areas.
