Is a species of parrot found in Australia.

Are common along the eastern seaboard, from northern Queensland to South Australia.

Habitat is rainforest, coastal bush and woodland areas.

Have been introduced to Perth, Western Australia, Tasmania, Auckland, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

There is little to visually distinguish between the sexes.

: The rainbow lorikeet is a medium-sized parrot, with the length ranging from 25 to 30 cm (9.8 to 11.8 in) including the tail, and the weight varies from 75 to 157 g (2.6–5.5 oz). The plumage is very bright and colorful. The head is deep blue with a greenish-yellow collar, and the rest of the upper parts (wings, back and tail) are green. The chest is orange/yellow. The belly is deep blue, and the thighs and rump are green. In flight a yellow wing-bar contrasts clearly with the red underwing coverts. They’re truly beautiful.

The were all over this in yesterday.

Clumps of red bloom were bright even in the overcast and cool conditions.

This is gorgeous and I even love the rich green leaves that look so iconic to our wonderful country .

This fine lookin’ fella was in , sitting in a .

He and his cheeky rainbow lorikeet mate were having fun in the branches. His mate is in pic 3.

They’re gorgeous birds… and smart.

This one was cheeky; he knew he was being marvelled at and stuck around to be adored and worshipped!

are so vibrant when they’re in their prime. The past few weeks has seen many of these come alive, with special blooms of red (mainly) throughout the suburbs of .

They bloom right up to May.

It has a restricted distribution in the wild (it’s native home is only the south-west of Western Australia) but it is one of the most commonly planted ornamental .

And bees go wild for these; they must have an abundance of nectar to extract.

Just beautiful.

A large in stature red flowering gum stands proud in an reserve, for all the passing motorists to marvel at. I was most definitely one of them.

The reds of this bursting is dynamic and impactful. Even the think so too!

Corymbia ficifolia, also commonly known as the , is a tree that is endemic to the south-west of Western Australia.

It has rough bark on the trunk and on its branches, robust, bright green thick leaves, flower buds in groups of seven; bright red, pink or orange flowers and its fruit is like the shape of cups. That’s the best description I can give.

This one in has the most lovely deep-pink flowers. Although the colour is subtle viewing the tree from afar, up close the colour is really quite striking.

Love the fine hair appearance of these flowers too! The bees seem quite partial to them as well. 🐝🐝🐝

I read just now with interest that these are one of the most commonly planted ornamental eucalypts in Australia.
