Was trying to take a mirror selfie of the cool shirt my friend bought me. (Marked as sensitive for people who have a phobia of dolls.) But my smile is strained because my mom was trying to talk to me about #AutismSpeaks and didn't believe me when I said they want to kill all #Autistic people & how they've flat out murdered children via electroshock therapy. Morning sensory disregulation - when I wake up but my brain is still half asleep & my body feels far away and numb.

It takes me a few hours every day to get going.

TBH I was gonna make some posts here for #AutismAcceptanceDay but I honestly couldn’t find the spoons to do it this year. That’s okay, cause we need acceptance everyday throughout the year, not just one day once a year. So for #AutismAcceptanceMonth:

• Support organisations ran by and for #Autistic people, like the #AutisticSelfAdvocacyNetwork (#ASAN);

• Do not discriminate against autistic people – accomodate, listen, and understand their needs;

• Don't support Autism Speaks or use their puzzle piece symbolism or the colour blue;

• Opt for #RedInstead, #LightItUpGold, and red/gold/rainbow infinity loops, the symbol of neurodiversity;

and most importantly:

• Listen to and uplift #ActuallyAutistic voices!

This #AutismAcceptanceMonth, as an #ActuallyAutistic person, I'll be lighting it up #RedInstead in protest of #AutismSpeaks.

They have a history of harmful messaging of #Autistic people being "costly burdens", and that #Autism is an "epidemic" that needs to be "cured".

#RedInstead counteracts the #LightItUpBlue campaign of #AutismSpeaks, and empowers #Autistic people everywhere that we are not burdens, we are not "puzzles" to be "solved", and there is nothing wrong with us! #ActuallyAutistic

I've been just raw with anger about ableism in general and the ableism I've experienced in my own life, and I want be part of making the world a better place for my fellow neurodivergent folks.
