Three weeks into #RedJanuary and I've jogged, walked, & biked every day.
Its about to get a bit more challenging as I'm in an airport hotel waiting for a flight out to a job in Tanzania. I'm looking forward to it, but the rest of January will seriously curtail my spare time & my ability to head out for jog. Instead, I'm committing to 30 minutes of Yoga a day, minimum, and I've even packed my yoga mat. 🧘♀️🌅

1/4 of the way through #RedJanuary & it feels like it's been a very long 8 days! I kicked it off with a gentle jog & dook on NYD & since then I've done three more of what count in my world as "runs" (the only impressive thing about these is the weather I've done them in). Doggo & I have also had a couple of nice hilly stomps, inc a wintery blast over Mullach Buidhe, & Wally joined us for a mtb ride. Yesterday I was out training with the team, which was quite strenuous so I'm counting that too.

I've managed to do some yoga every day, which is the key addition to my activities, and managed a strength workout as well as my more usual walking and running.
Early warning! #REDJanuary is pairing with parkruns on the last Saturday in January, 28th. Why not pop along to a #parkrun to show solidarity with the cause? Wear red if you’ve got any! REDJanuary is to raise money for MIND so you could send them something but awareness and solidarity are valued even without a donation, no sponsorship needed.
I’ve been very remiss about posting on #REDJanuary! Five days in, five days run. Apart from day 1, which was a run to parkrun and parkrun itself, it’s been short, slow runs. All good mileage going towards cash for Mind.

It took 10 to 15 minutes, including watching the videos and reading the instructions, so should be a 10 minute workout once I’m familiar with it. I find things that are 10 minutes or under much harder to avoid through procrastination!
My first #run of 2023 was a 5km along the seafront this morning. It included some interval training (5 x 250m at higher perceived effort) as I start my 10km improver training plan.

I warmed up for the dook with my first #RedJanuary activity. Eased into it with a muddy rocky jog along the shore, with seals and a otter for company. Always good to start the year with an otter!
I’m doing #REDJanuary this year, as I do every year, kicking it off with a NYD parkrun, running there, walking back.
A targeted ad sent to me tells me that women of my age should try and walk for 5 min each day, do it for a week, and then assess whether they are strong enough to carry on doing it for another week.
Stick to SM platforms that don’t include wildly ageist targeted ads.
I've signed up to REDJanuary, which isn't just a personal challenge, it raises vital funds for Sport In Mind.
We know how important movement is for physical health, but it's also vital for our mental wellbeing too. Sport in Mind helps to break down the barriers that prevent people from enjoying the benefits of exercise.
I've got a modest fundraising target, so your couple of quid could really help me achieve my goal!
