I read the Rama blog post by #RedPlanetLabs , the company that made news recently for making a scalable clone of #Mastodon

They did Mastodon as a showcase for their platform. I would be surprised if they actually sold it for anything.

For the most part, that answers the question "why they did it" that I asked yesterday.

The remaining questions are the standard #surveillancecapitalism and #capitalism ones.

Have they said anywhere _why_ they built it? I skimmed the intro blog post about the tech, but i cannot see what their intention is.

That's a fast track to "suspicious" territory for me.

And don't respond with "of course they won't talk about their business plan". I know. But the price they will pay for this is suspicion. Their plans for extracting value from the #Fediverse is very much a fair question to ask.

I find it a little bit ironic that #RedPlanetLabs built a Twitter-scale #Mastodon Clone as a demonstration of their new platform #Rama, but I cannot discover any chatter about Rama via Mastodon Search. :) #Clojure

Anyone else patiently waiting for #redplanetlabs to release their #clojure based platform/tool? Every month or three I check their site but no tech blog posts since 2021.
