About the - red became a symbol for FASD in 2013, when a Canadian adult with FASD, RJ Formanek, decided to wear red shoes to stand out, be noticed and have some fun starting the FASD conversation with strangers.

RJ paired red sneakers with dress clothes, and did make connections. I love the grass roots nature of the FASD community.

The S is for Spectrum. The DSM- based recognition focus is on neurobehavioral disorder associated with pre-natal alcohol exposure (PAE & that's the F for Fetal).

The long-term effects extend to other systems, may have biomarkers depending on timing of exposure.

Awareness helps reduce stigma, increase inclusion. If you see red shoes, clothes this is a welcome sign for asking about
